Once you get into grilling here, the next question is always where should we go? We have put together a list that includes a bit of variety to help you get out the door even faster. Some are easy and accessible, others are more of an adventure, but all of them give you that perfect mix of outdoors, fire, and a place to gather.
Below are six of our go-to grill spots, broken down so you can find the right one for you. To find all of our recommended Grill Spots in the Valley, we created a map just for you. This isn't all of them, but a select list to get you started. Below you will find the description of the ones we have highlighted this month. Unteraegeri Lake Grill Spot Plan an adventure day. You can arrive by paddleboard or pedalo and enjoy a grill and a day in the sun on the water.
A beautiful option if you want to combine a hike with a swim and a relaxed grill. I recommend biking as well, as parking in this area is limited. Heck, you can even get crazy and arrive by paddleboard if you are looking for a bit of adventure. This is truly a place where you could make a day of it, with a lazy lunch or an evening meal in the summer.

The walk in is gentle (a bit uphill, but manageable), and along the way, there are a few activities to keep kids engaged. Once there, you’ve got a playground, space to grill, and if all else fails, the St. Jost restaurant is right there as backup. Works year-round on the weekends.
A great all-rounder, especially with kids.

This is one of the most stunning grill spots around. It’s a climb, but the payoff is huge. Perfect for a more adventurous day out and definitely one you’ll remember. The Restaurant Wildspitz is a short 20-minute walk in case you change your mind and would rather dine in.

Sattel Castle Playground Spielplatz Schlössli A playground where kids can entertain themselves for hours. Great for birthday parties and family celebrations when you have small ones.
Perfect for families with younger kids when you want the grill experience without the hike. Located below Sattel (not the top), this is a bit of a hidden spot. It’s ideal for birthdays or group meetups—lots for kids to do, easy access, and space to spend the whole day. It’s gotten more popular, so go early if you want to secure a good spot.

Nollen Forest Grill Spots
Three Different Options, from riverside to large shaded areas, Nollen offers many choices all within a 1 km walk. It’s one of those places you can come back to again and again and have a different experience each time.
1. Riverside Grill Spots (Easiest Access)If you’re looking for something easy and relaxed, this is your spot.
Access: Park near the Garten Rüti area and walk across the bridge
Water: Yes (right along the stream)
Pram-friendly: Yes
Number of spots: 3 along the river
These are the easiest to get to and perfect if you’re coming with younger kids, a pram, or just want something low effort. Being right by the water makes it a fun place for kids to play while you grill.
2. Waldspielgruppe Area (Best for Groups & Shade)This one feels a bit more tucked away and is great if you want space.
Access: Short uphill walk (not ideal for buggies)
Water: No direct access
Table/Space: Large open area with 3 grill spots
Shade: Lots (great for hot summer days)
This is where the forest playgroup meets, and it’s a fantastic spot if you’re planning a bigger gathering—birthday parties, group meetups, or just lots of kids running around. It’s quiet, shaded, and gives you plenty of room to spread out.
3. Finnbahn Grill Spot (A Bit More Adventure)A fun one if you want to combine your grill with a bit of activity.
Access: Hike in required
Water: No
Sun: Gets nice afternoon sun
Extras: Located along the Zürich Vita Parcours (fitness trail)
This spot is great if you want something a bit different. The Vita Parcours adds a fun element; kids (and adults) can try out the stations, and there are often little huts or forts built in the woods nearby. It’s a more playful, active environment and a nice change from the typical grill setting.
