Date: Friday, 21 & 22 August

Time: 20:30

Location: Sebelis Sage, Alosenstrasse 9, Oberägeri

The open-air cinema at Sebelis Sage is one of those events that makes you feel like you are properly living somewhere, not just passing through. On two evenings, films are shown in the open air next to the stream in Oberägeri, with food matched to each film's theme served on site. The Friday screening is "Der Mann auf dem Kirchturm," a 2026 Swiss documentary about Oberägeri's own chimney sweep and roofer who works at dizzying heights on church towers. Very local, and very likely to resonate.

The second Kino am Bach evening screens "Reinas," a 2024 Swiss, Peruvian and Spanish co-production directed by Klaudia Reynicke. Set in Lima in 1992, it follows two sisters preparing to leave Peru with their mother as the country descends into political chaos. A very different film from the Friday, and a good one by all accounts. Themed food is served alongside both screenings. Check kulturaegeri.ch for tickets and details.
