Unterägeri Fasnacht Parade – Watch Together

Members Bonus Cultural Event

Time & Location

Feb 15, 2026, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Corner by Rio Getranke, Lindengasse 1, 6314 Unterägeri, Switzerland

Event Description

I’m inviting members and their families to join me for one of my favourite local traditions: the Unterägeri Fasnacht Parade.

We’ll meet at 13:00 at the corner outside Rio Getränke. This is hands-down my favourite viewing spot - it’s right on the corner, which gives us a fantastic view, especially when the tractors try to make the turn. It does get very crowded, so arriving on time helps us secure a good spot together.

What to bring

  • Confetti to throw (can be purchased in Migros or Coop)

  • Small bags for any treats you might catch

  • (Optional) Water to drink. If not, there’s also a bar near Lindenhof serving drinks

Dress up & join the fun

We highly recommend dressing up and embracing the crazy, colourful spirit of Fasnacht. It’s all part of the experience.

For families with younger children

A few things to know so everyone feels prepared:

  • It can get loud - noise-cancelling headphones are a great idea

  • Prepare children ahead of time: this is not a Disney parade

  • Some figures are designed to be a bit scary; they’re there to chase winter away

I’ll be there with my husband and will do my best to explain the different groups and characters as they pass. Some floats include political humour or commentary. Sometimes, I know what’s coming; sometimes it’s a surprise, but I’ll happily give context where I can.

👉 This year’s Unterägeri theme: Go slow and relax in Ägeri - inspired by the new 30 km/h speed limit. Very local, very Swiss, and very entertaining.

After the parade

I’ll direct you to where the children’s goody bags are handed out. Fair warning: this part is a bit of a mini mosh pit 😄My kids absolutely loved it once they were big enough to push their way through.

I’m really looking forward to sharing this special local tradition with you - it’s one of those moments that helps everything click culturally. Come curious, come playful, and come ready for a celebration of confetti.

Happy Fashnacht Season, Jody
